Is he a chauvinistic? Need advise!?

my boyfriend says that it would be ok with him if i score equal % as him or may be 2 or 3 % more..while he is damn encouraging when it comes to participation or leading something where even he is involved. i dont understand clearly why these different behaviours.is he a chauvinistic?
