PARENTS: What would you do in these situtaions?

I wouldn't be angry I'd be concerned and I'd have a talk. Marijuana may be illegal but I've never known anyone that died from it. Alcohol on the other hand I know people personally that have died (a girl in eighth grade went to a party, drank vodka, fell asleep on the couch and never woke up for example). DUI has affected many I know on both sides of the wheel. As far as which is more dangerous there's really no doubt in my mind. I also know how cocaine and other harder drugs have affected people. I would share whatever stories were appropriate at the time, maybe effect some sort of punishment but I'd also make it clear to him that no matter what if he is out with friends and drinking that he should call for a ride and no questions will be asked. My own mother did this for me, I had to take her up on that one time when my "ride" was doing doughnuts on the lawn. She came and picked me up and I never heard a word about it after. Above all else I want him to be safe.
